Memorial Jetze Veldstra

Veldstra was in contact with a group which had a secret transmitter and therefore a connection with England. So broadcasts were done on his farm, lonely at the Tjeukemeer. Because a Gestapo spy had managed to penetrate this group, it was completely rolled up and the SD could also seize Veldstra.

On September 6, 1943 he was arrested and transferred to the Oranje Hotel in Scheveningen via Assen and Groningen. After six months he was transported to Haren and in July 1944 to Utrecht. Around "Mad Tuesday" he was transported via Amersfoort to Germany. After having been in several camps, he ended up in Neuengamme at the end, where he arrived on Jan 25th. 1945 died of pneumonia. The completely exhausted body could no longer bear this disease and God took his child to the Father's house.
