Memorial Bristol Beaufighter JL575 / North Coates Strike Wing Memorial

This Memorial commemorates the crash at this location of a British Beaufighter which was shot down during an attack on the harbor, on 18 July 1943.

Both crew members were killed. Their names were:
Pilot-sergeant E.F.V. Kidd
Navigator-sergeant Harrold C. Stevenson

Memorial trees
These two trees are in memory of the two crew members who died in the crash of the British Beaufighter on 18-07-1943 in Den Helder.

THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD,
AS THOSE ARE LEFT GROW OLD.
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM.
NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN.
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN,
AND IN THE MORNING.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
