Soviet War Cemetery Salantai

This war cemetery contains 500 Soviet soldiers and officers (including one Hero of the Soviet Union) who fell in 1944.

Striking detail in this cemetery: in contrast to the standard red marble plaques, there are 46 black tableaux here. On those tableaux, also in contrast to most Soviet cemeteries, the names of the fallen are listed here under the Soviet star in both Lithuanian and Russian.
