Yuma Proving Grounds Heritage Center

Opened in 1943, the US Army Corps of Engineers created the Yuma Test Branch near the Colorado River in order to test portable combat bridges. A couple of miles to the west in Camp Laguna was a desert training area preparing over 15,000 troops at any one time for the severe conditions of desert combat in North Africa during World War Two. In 1962 the Yuma site was renamed to the Yuma Proving Grounds.

The Heritage center shows the visitor a look into the broad history of the location.

For current visiting hours, please visit the website of the museum.
