Biography

Staff Sergeant Torrey was Radio Operator
On October 9, 1942 he was on the crew of the B-24D Liberator #41-23678 "Big Eagle" AKA "Bathtub Bessie" during a mission to bomb the aircraft industry at Lille, France. They were attacked by a German fighter over Dunkirk on their way to the target area. They lost an engine and sustained other damage, crashing near Lille, France. Six men were killed. Three men survived of which one evaded capture.
