Bunker Park Martinet i Montellà

By the end of the Second World War, Franco ordered to build this impressive bunker line in secret.

Franco's dictatorship was afraid of an invasion by the allied forces. So he built this bunker line, which consists of some ten thousand bunkers, a line similar to the lines that other great powers had built to defend their borders, as Mussolini did in the Alps. Because the Spanish civil war ended only recently and the Spanish people did not need to war. There was chosen to the build the bunkers in secret by the Spanish army.

The bunker line runs through the Pyrenees of Cap de Creus (at the Mediterranean sea in Girona) to País Basc (in the Basque Country near the Atlantic Ocean).

A few years ago, the Spanish government decided to open up some bunkers to the public because in the current manner of weaponry and warfare the usefulness of these bunkers is outdated.
