Fort bij Vechten - Bridge Keeper's House W
Fort bij Vechten was built in the period between 1867 and 1870 as part of the New Dutch Waterline. The task of the Fort was to prevent artillery attacks on the city of Utrecht and the defenses behind the fort.
The Fort had a bridge on the west side and the guards were housed in this Bridge Keeper's House, building W. There were three bridges in total and these have been replaced by an earthen dam.
