Atlantikwall - Battey H.K.B. 5/980 Vesterøen

HKB 5/980 Vesterøen was a German coastal battery south of Sandefjord.

During the German occupation, an underground tunnel system, trenches, shelters and casemates were constructed.

The main armanant was composed of four captured 12cm field guns.

After the war, HKB 5/980 Vesterøen was reused by the Norwegian army. In 1957 the fortress was modernized and the 12cm field guns were replaced by 10,5cm C/32 coastal guns.

The battery today:
It is currently abandoned.
