Željava Airforce Base

This base, now a museum, was constructed in the seventies. It had five runways and a 3.5 kilometer long complex of underground tunnels capable of handling up to 100 MiG-21s. It was abandoned in 1992 during the Balkan Wars, right before its capture by Croatic troops, when the retreating Yugoslav National Army disabled it with over 56 tons of high explosives.

For current visiting hours, please visit the website of the museum.
