Statue Themistokli Gėrmenji

Themistokli Gėrmenji (1871-1917) was a guerrilla-fighter in World War I. He was awarded with the Croix de guerre because he participated in the French capture of Pogradec.
On 7 November 1917 he was executed, by the French, because he was accused of collaboration with the enemy. Later on, ik became clear this was not true: the accusation came from the Greeks who wished Germenji removed since he was a powerful Albanian leader.
