Médaille de Mérite de l'Afrique Noire (Vichy)

June 26th, 1941, the Vichy government instituted this medal to reward native troops in French Equatorial Africa, French Somaliland and Madagascar. The badge is made of bronze and on the front depicts a map of Africa in relief with a native sword hilt on it. The reverse depicts an anchor with native hieroglyphics. The ribbon is pale blue with narrow bands of green and red at each side.
