Médaille du Volontaire 1940-1945
The medal was awarded to volunteers that went into the Belgian Army prior to May 8th 1945. The medal was instituted on February 16th 1946.
Besides volunteers in the Belgian Army, later the medal also was awarded to Belgian military that volunteered during WW2 in either the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy or the Merchant Navy.
