Together with the Soviet armies, the Mongolian army fought the Japanese invasion at Chalkin Gol in 1939. In August 1945, the Soviet Union launched its offensive against the Japanese forces in Manchuria and a few units of the People's Republic of Mongolia fought alongside Soviet forces.
