HOPTON 1   A new Coy to be known as “E” Coy was formed; to consist of low category personnel filling vacancies as employed men in the bn and the drums. Bn fd sports were held in the afternoon following an “all present talk” by the C.O. on trg.
4   A short bn Pioneers Course commenced.
5   A bn Pl and Sec Cmdrs Cadre known as exercise “Wold” was held (Attat Appx A) APPX A
6   Trg Directive No 6 issued by the C.O. (Att at Appx B). APPX B
7   Bn Pioneers Course ended.
8   Bn 100% reserve Intelligence Course ended.
9   An R.E. circus gave a demonstration of German mines to the bn.
10   Bn M.T. drivers attended a mine-lifting demonstration at BUNGAY by the 294 Fd Coy R.E. Personnel of the Bn M.T. Sec joined the Bde conc at HENSTEAD HALL KESSINGLAND.
11   Personnel from the bn took part in the Bde exercise Centipede to practice the move of the Bdes tpt over a military bridge. APPX C
13   Bn “I” Sec joined Bde Int conc at H.Q. 146 Inf. Bde LOWESTOFT. Bn cross country team won Div cross country run with 98 points from 4 Lincs 176 points.
15   C and D Coys carried out st fighting training in the street fighting area YARMOUTH.
HOPTON 18   Bn Signals Pl joined Bde conc at CARLTON COLVILLE. Bn I Sec and Sigs took part in Bde exercise DISS. To test comns and working of “I” Offices in the field. Trg Directive No 7 issued by the C.O. (Att at Appx D) APPX D
19   Three members of the bn cross team were selected to represent the Div team in the Eastern Command cross country run. The bn football team won the Bde compatition with a 2-0 victory over 4 Lincs.
20   Personnel from the bn took part in the Bde TEWT SHELLDRAKE.
22   Bde “I” conc ended.
24   Bn night trg week commenced at 2000 hrs. (Routine att at Appx E). APPX E
27   Trg forecast for FEB issued. Trg Directive No 8 issued by C.O. (Att at Appx F). APPX F
28   Bde skeleton exercise Thruster begins. Bn skeleton HQs were present. (Att at Appx G) APPX G
29   Ex Thruster ended during the morning. Bn attended a demonstration by a bty of the 79 Med Regt R.A. at 1410 hrs. Bn night ex Dun to practice bn in night attack commenced during the evening (Att at Appx H) APPX H
30   Ex Dun concluded and bn marched back to camp, approx dist of 24 miles, accompanied by the drums. Brig A. Dunlop D.S.O. took the salute on the route and later addressed the bn near the camp.
31   Bn had day off duty on conclusion of night trg week.
