Over the past two weeks, we have shared various photo reports on TracesOfWar regarding the Airborne commemorations and events of this year. We still have quite a lot of photo material left. From that, we have created this compilation report.
Thursday, September 18: commemoration at the old post office in Brummen. The place where six Airborne prisoners of war were shot dead by a German soldier and others were injured when Brigade Major Tony Hibbert escaped.









Commemoration at the former hotel Dreyeroord, also known as the 'White House.' During the Battle of Arnhem, it was the headquarters of the 7th Battalion KOSB. Very special that Arnhem veteran Geoff Roberts was able to attend this commemoration of his unit.

Friday, September 19: Parachute jumps at Wolfheze












After the parachute jumps, the Dakota made a few fly-bys over the memorial for David Lord VC. His Dakota crashed here exactly 81 years ago.





In the afternoon, Mayor Marcel Fränzel of the municipality of Renkum laid a wreath at this monument.
