Colonial Police

During the period under review 16 May to 15 Aug 45, Sub Condr HENNESSY was Superintendent "G" Branch No.1 Area, the formation responsible for opening RANGOON and preparing it as an advanced base for future offensive operations. He had joined the HQ after all the planning for the task in hand had been completed, but despite this handicap which he quickly overcame he immediately had his office capably and efficiently functioning. He was soon responsible for all the supervisory duties in connection with the production of many important documents and operational instructions. Due to the shortage of Staff Officers Sub Condr HENNESSY on many occasions had to officiate as a GSO.III in addition to his own duties. On many occasions decisions were required and in the absence of "G" officers he showed great initiative and marked ability in answering them. His success in keeping abreast of a vast volum of work was due to his enthusiasm, cheerful and unceasing devotion to duty. His keenness and exemplary conduct was an excellent example to his subordinate clerks whom he welded into a happy and efficient team. Sub Condr HENNESSY is well deserving of full praise and recognition for his excellent services.
