"Sergeant Harold Joseph ARSENEAU has served continuously since 6 JUNE 44 with the battalion.
He landed with an assault Company on 6 JUNE as a Corporal and fought all through the first month with a rifle company in charge of their signallers. During this whole period his work was outstanding under the most difficult conditions.
This NCO was then promoted to Sergeant of the Signal Platoon. This maintenance, training and upkeep of the Signal Platoon, during this period when casualties of specialist personnel were very high, was kept at an exceedingly good standard due to the unceasing efforts of this NCO.
Many times during battle this NCO has unhesitatingly done more than his duty demanded, often going himself to lay line across ground being swept by shell fire. The constant unselfish conduct and bravery of Sgt. ARSENEAU have been an inspiration and example to his subordinates. "
