Biography

Ernest was born on March 8 1915 in Moncton, New Brunswick, the son of Joseph Ernest Moore and Kathleen E. Moore nee Welling of Moncton. They were married on December 14 1904 in Moncton. His brothers were Joseph Henry and Gerald Frederick Welling Moore and Frederick William Welling Moore died in 1910 at age 5.

He was a clerk at the Express Dept. of the CNR in Moncton and member of the Church of England. His sports were swimming, basketball, softball and fishing.
He served from October 2 1933 one year with the Univ. of New Brunswick COTC of the Non-Permanent Active Militia of Canada. He enlisted on January 15 1942 then the RCAF in Moncton and he went thereafter on November 4 1942 overseas to the UK.

Ernest was killed in action on Wednesday May 5 1943 age 28 due to a crash near the road from Boertange –Vlagtwedde before or after an attack on Dortmund in Germany. The other fallen RCAF crew members were F/Sgt George E. Armstrong age 19 in grave A-8-1, F/Sgt John T. MacKsimchuk age 25 in grave A-8-1 and Sgt Andrew P. Uditsky age 22 in grave A-8-1. The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew member was Sgt Thomas A.S. Buchanan age 24 in grave A-8-1.

He served with the 166 (R.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
