Biography

Gordon was born on August 7 1915 in Montreal, the son of Alfred Lauder (English and deceased, age 70) and Edith Rachel Lauder nee Gordon of Montreal. They were married in September 1914 in Montreal.

He was married on April 11 1942 in Montreal with Catherine Beatrice Lauder nee Berrouard of Montreal and their daughter was Natalie Ann Lauder (April 18 1944).

His brother was George Alfred Lauder.

He was an office clerk and member of the Presbyterian Church.

His sports were basketball, baseball, tennis, swimming, hockey, skating, bowling and fishing.

He served as a Private from July 13 1940 till 1942 with the 2nd Bn Royal Montreal Regiment of The Non-Permanent Active Militia of Canada. He enlisted on May 27 1942 then the RCAF in Montreal and he went on August 3 1943 thereafter from New York USA overseas to the UK.

Gordon was killed in action on Thursday May 25 1944 age 28 due to a crash behind the Kromstraat 2 in Tilburg before or after an attack on Aachen in Germany.
The other fallen RCAF crew members were WO I Donald M. Robson age 20 in grave B-2-47 and P/O Philip S. Smith age 23 in grave B-2-49. The other RCAF crew member P/O William D. Lillico was on May 26 1944 deceased age 23 due to very serious wounds in a hospital in Tilburg and he was temporarily buried there and he was later reburied at the Bergen op Zoom Canadian War Cemetery in grave 5-H-1.
The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were Sgt John Hoarty age 22 in grave B-2-49, Sgt Thomas J.H. Smith age 20 in grave B-2-48 and Sgt Bernard R. Morgan age 19 in grave B-2-51.

He served with the 419 Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
