Biography

William was born on July 26 1920 in Edinburgh Scotland, the son of Walter Davidson Lillico (Scottish) and Gertrude Lillico nee Creswell (English) of New York U.S.A. They were married in London England.

His sister was Agnes Creswell Lillico.

He was a contract writer and member of the Presbyterian Church.

His sports were football, baseball, golf, swimming, basketball, tennis, fishing, bowling table tennis and his hobby was driving.

He enlisted on May 26 1942 in Montreal and he went on September 1 1943 thereafter overseas to the UK.

William died of serious wounds on Friday 26 1944 age 23 in a hospital in Tilburg after a crash behind the Kromstraat 2 in Tilburg before or after an attack on Aachen in Germany. He died of wounds in a hospital in Tilburg and he was temporarily buried then at the cemetery in Tilburg before being reburied on June 26 1945 in Bergen op Zoom.

The other crew members were all killed on Thursday May 25 1944, the crash date.
The fallen RCAF crew members were WO I Donald M. Robson age 20 in grave B-2-47, P/O Philip S. Smith age 23 in grave B-2-49 and F/O Gordon R. Lauder age 28 in grave B-2-50.
The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were Sgt John. Hoarty age 22 in grave B-2-49, Sgt Thomas J.H. Smith age 20 in grave B-2-48 and Sgt Bernard R. Morgan age 19 in grave B-2-51.

He served with the 419 Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
