Biography

George was born on November 14 1915 in Bounty Saskatchewan, the son of Charles Nisbet (deceased) and Hazelena Nisbet nee Cavanaugh of Conquest, Saskatchewan.

He was a hard rock miner and member of the United Church.

His hobbies were photography and mechanics and his sports were baseball, hockey, softball, tennis, bowling and badminton.

He enlisted on August 5 1941 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan and he went thereafter on February 4 1943 overseas to the UK.

George was killed in action on Monday May 24 1943 age 27 due to a crash in Lake IJsselmeer 15 km West of Makkum, Holland before or after an attack on Dortmund in Germany. He washed up on June 7 1943 then near Piaam.
The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were Sgt Charles J.J. Hine age 26 in grave M-36, F/O Joseph W.T. King age 27 in grave M-32 and he washed up on June 3 1943 near the Afsluitdijk at pole 20.3, Sgt Herbert G. Ashton age 33 in grave M-37, Sgt Eric C. Church age 21 who was who washed up on October 7 1943 near the southside of the Afsluitdijk and he was buried then at the Bergen op Zoom War Cemetery in grave 32-A-9 and Sgt Robert F.F. Baggaley washed up on June 5 1943 near Huisduinen at pole 2 and he was also buried then at the Bergen op Zoom War Cemetery in grave 30-A-9.
The fallen RAF crew member was Sgt Aubrey Hall age 18 in grave M-33 and he washed up on June 3 1943 near Breezanddijk.

On his headstone: HE DIED FOR KING AND COUNTRY. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

He served with the 10 (R.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
