Biography

Henry Edward Evans was the son to Henry Francis Evans and Mary Ann Evans from Saltney, Flintshire and was married to L. Evans, also from Saltney. As Flying Officer he was the tail gunner of the Short Stirling Mk IV, LK 195 from No. 190 Squadron RAF. During a dropping on behalf of the resistance movement in the Netherlands in the night of November 5th-6th, 1944, the aircraft's wing hit the water and the plane crashed. All crew members, Flying Officer Henry Edward Evans, Flying Officer Edwin Davis Hodgson, Warrant Officer William King, Sergeant Reginald Henry George Nevard, Flying Officer Elmer Joshua Rusenstrom and George Langley Towns, were killed in this event.
