"This officer who was a member of a Resistance Organisation in France from 1940 onwards, arrived in North Africa in 1943, and was appointed Liaison Officer between the British and French North African staffs organising resistance in Southern France.

In this appointment he undertook two very succesful coordination missions to London. In Jun 1944 he became a member of Special Projects Operations Centre, dealing with Resistance, as French officer in charge of personnel in the field. In this capacity his wide knowledge of the situation in France was of freat value to all french and British officers sent into France, both in the preparation of their missions and in their direction when in the field.

At the end of July Colonel Widmer was himself parachuted into the South east of France, as General de Gaulle's Military Delegate, covering the area in which the landings took place. He rendered valuable service both in his direction of teh french Forces of the Interior, and also in the assistance he gave to the allied forces after the Liberation. For his many services in the field of allied cooperation, it is recommended that this officer be appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (Military Division) (Honorary).
