Gerrit lived at Beneden Westerdiep 31a in Veendam and married Janna Willems on 12 June 1920. He was the operator of a washing factory. He was in the resistance at the OD and distributed various pamphlets. He was arrested on 16 April 1942 and died six months later in KZ Neuengamme.
