Biography

Before the war a member of the British Chess Club of Paris where he met Georges Langelaan who would also become an SOE agent.

Mortimore became once interviewed Jean Moulin in Lisbon when Moulin was on his way to London to meet De Gaulle
Mortimore was c0-responsible for investigating several of the lines for passing letters, parcels, and people into and out of France.

According to MRD Foot's 'An Account of the Work of the British Special Operations Executive in France 1940-1944' Mortimore was previously awarded an MBE.
