Son of S. Preston Eagleson and Helen M. Eagleson, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; husband of Gloria F. Eagleson. James Eagleson died at the age of 21 during a mission to Abbeville in which their Mitchell bomber was hit by German anti-aircraft fire and crashed. Initially, the entire crew was listed as missing, but two crew members appeared to have managed to save themselves and were taken to safety by the French resistance. James Eagleson and his fellow crew member Stuart Catto (RNZAF) are both buried in Bezingham cemetery in France.
