Gaujean was a proprietor of the Hotel de Commerce in Montlieu-le-Garde and agreed to hide a map found among the belongings of two RM commandos (Laver and Mills) who had just been arrested. If the map were found by the Germans, it would be incriminating. Gaujean's wife prepared a meal for the prisoners. The map remained in the family's possession.
