Rieupeyrout, Georges

Nationality:
French

Biography

Georges Rieupeyrout was an adjutant in the Gendarmerie in Montlieu-la-Garde. When Joseph Gagnerot came to his office to betray two British RM commandos (Laver and Mills), the adjutant tried to warn the British through a connection. However, the commandos had already left. Once the British were arrested, Rieupeyrout assisted them with advice. He also made a crucial piece of evidence disappear: the map that the British had used. If the Germans had found that map, it would have been to the commandos' disadvantage.
