Biography

Panzel was the commander of Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 284. He played a minor role during Operation Frankton. On the first day of the mission, Panzel had brief contact with the Chief of Staff of the Kriesmarine about an alleged boat sighting off the coast. Both decided that no further actions were needed. However, during the same time, British commando's canoed through the Mouth of the Gironde.
