Anne Frank was born in Germany in 1929. As Nazi persecution escalated, her family fled to Amsterdam. When the Nazis invaded in 1940, restrictions on Jews increased. In 1942, the family went into hiding in a secret annex.
During two years in hiding, Anne documented her experiences and dreams in a diary, aspiring to be a writer. Discovered in 1944, the family was arrested and sent to concentration camps. Anne and her sister died in Bergen-Belsen in 1945. Their father, Otto, survived and later published her diary, sharing her story with the world.
