Jan Atteveld was arrested for the Arbeitseinsatz and ended up in German military service that way. Presumably deployed as SS Frontarbeiders (SS-FA). According to the Volksbund he held the army rank of Gefreiter (private). He was taken prisoner of war by the Red Army and succumbed to typhus in captivity.
