Hendrikus Stortelder is buried at the Belantoeng military cemetery in Padang (Sumatra). This cemetery had to be closed in 1962 by order of the Indonesian government, and he was reburied at the Leuwigajah military cemetery in Cimahi (Bandung). His name appears on the Indie Monument in Lichtenvoorde.
