Citation:
"Throughout the whole period of the occupation of FRANCE, Lt-Col LAFONT worked at great personal risk as chief of a clandestine Counter-Espionage service. The reports which he and his organization forwarded at this time to London were of the utmost value to the Allied security authorities in preparing their plans for the return to France.

With the Libaration of France, Lt-Col LAFONT was appointed to an important position in the newly established French security organisation and seubsequently became head of the Service T.R. specialising on counter-espionage. Together with the representatives of the Allied counter-espionage services, he has been largely responsible for working out the necessary measures against enemy parachute activities, which measures proved extremely effective. Since one of the most important objectives of the enemy parachute agents was sabotage of fuel pipelines running though France, Lt Col LAFONT's contribution in this respect has been of considerable importance to the Allied war Effort.
Lt Col LAFONT has won the admiration of all Allied security personnel who have come into touch with him, for the skill he displays in his work and his wholehearted readiness to collaborate with the Allied security authorities."

Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)
