Period:
Second World War (1939-1945)
Rank:
Lieutenant
Unit:
Forces Fran?aises de l'Int?rieur
Citation:
"Having worked throughout 1943 with a resistance movement in the Puy de Dome, this officer was recruited in the field by a British organiser early in in 1944 in the Montlucon area, and worked until the liberation first as liaison officer between various groups of the circuit, and later as a staff officer in the maquis.
He installed two W/T operators in his house, and allowed them to transmit from it, thus laying himself open to the gravest risks. His house also served as a clandestine post-box and meeting place during the period before D-Day.

Having joined the maquis after D-Day, L'Hospitalier played an important part in organising a group in the north of the Indre department, and took part in several actions against the enemy, notably at Tnille de Ruine on the 11th June. He conducetd himself at all times with the utmost gallantry and devotion to duty.

It is recommended that this officer be appointed a Member in the Order of the British Empire (Mil.(Hon)."
