Psarakis studied in Heraklion and Athens before joining the WWII resistance, fighting in the Battle of Crete and the Kastelli airfield raid (Operation Albumen, 1942).
He led the Arkalochori Community until 1967, then entered politics. In 1974, he became PASOK’s first MP elected in Crete.
From 1981 to 1985, he headed the Agricultural Insurance Board. He died of cardiac arrest on 27 October 2007.
