Bernhard-Georg Meitzel served as Ordonnanz Offizier (O1) on the divisional staff of 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitlerjugend" during World War II. He served on the Eastern Front and fought at Demjansk. Following the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944, he was captured by British forces and spent several months in internment camps. Fluent in English, Meitzel transitioned into writing after the war, contributing articles to a range of English-language military journals and magazines, where he shared insights drawn from his wartime experiences.
