Biography

Piet Brouwers, the eldest son of Theodorus Brouwers and Tonnake Dielissen, served as a sergeant during the 1939–1940 mobilization in Limburg. There he met Truus van Geneijgen, with whom he developed a deep bond.

During the war, Piet and Truus became active in the resistance, assisted Allied pilots, and took an oath of secrecy from Father Witlox. After the liberation, Piet worked as a border guard near Well, near what would later become Weeze Airport.

Shortly after the war, just before their planned wedding, he accidentally drank methyl alcohol at a party with British soldiers. He died a few hours later in the hospital in Venray.
