Biography

The dear departed was born in Füchtorf on 4 July 1908. On 1 January 1941, he was called up to the Wehrmacht, received his training in Lüdenscheid and then went to Poland. From there, he was granted four months to be with his loved ones. On 18 August 1941, he was called up again for military service in Osnabrück and, after a short period of training, was sent to the East on 30 August, where he was assigned to a motorised column. On 14 October 1943, he said goodbye to his family. After returning from leave, he was assigned to an alarm company, where he performed his duties in an exemplary manner. During heavy fighting southwest of Gomel, he died a heroic death on 21 October 1943. In the prime of his life, he gave his hopeful life back into the hands of his creator. His sincere nature and loyal comradeship made him very popular with his column. He was laid to rest alongside several of his comrades. May God reward him with eternal blessings for his sacrificial death and his loyalty to duty.
