The dear departed was born in Füchtorf on 12 February 1908. On 24 September 1944, during heavy fighting on the Eastern Front, he suffered a serious head injury. Despite medical efforts, he died on 1 October 1944, on the day of his admission to the military hospital in Frankenberg am Eder. He was buried with military honours and in the presence of the Catholic clergy.
