Biography

The dear departed was born on 11 February 1924 in Osnabrück. He was called up for military service on 11 December 1942 and trained in Modlin, from where he went to Russia. In July, he was wounded by shrapnel, but after recovering, he returned to duty. During heavy defensive fighting on 24 November 1943, he was shot in the chest by enemy machine gun fire. The wound was so severe that immediate medical attention could not save him, and he died the following day. At the blossoming age of 20, he gave his young, hopeful life back into the hands of the Creator. In September, he said goodbye to his parents' home. His comrades laid him to rest in the heroes' cemetery in Podorochnoje. May the benevolent Father in Heaven reward his sacrificial death with eternal goods.
