Biography

Simon Timofei was a cook on the MV Oost-Vlaaderen, a German merchant supply ship operating in the Channel Islands. He was sunk along with John van Lieshout when the ship was sunk by the RAF. At the time, it was transporting cement and weapons from St. Malo to Guernsey, intended for the fortification of the island. He has a German headstone in Fort George Military Cemetery.
