Biography

Werner Sanne joined the German Army on October 14th 1908. On June 16th 1910 he was appointed to the Infanterie-Regiment.117 with the rank of Leutnant. On May 1st 1934 het was promoted to Oberstleutnant. Before the Second World War he served with the Infanterie-Regiment.57 from October 1st 1935 where he was promoted to Oberst on April 1st 1936. He commanded the regiment from September 1st 1939. Between Februari 2nd 1940 and May 6th 1940 he was placed with the 193.Infanterie-Division. His promotion to General Major followed on April 1st 1940. From May 11th 1940 until November 1st 1940 he was placed with the 34.Infanterie-Division. After this he commanded the 100.Infanterie-Division from December 10th 1940 until het was taken prisoner of war in Stalingrad on Januari 30th 1943.
His final promotion to General Leutnant was on April 1st 1942.
He died in 1952 in the Soviet POW camp Krasnopolie.
