Awarded for his Abteilung’s part in the defense of Wehrkirch (located on the Neisse river) on the 17-18.04.1945. His Flak guns destroyed many of the approx. 40 Soviet tanks knocked out by the Germans in this battle. The Abteilung furthermore covered the relatively bloodless retreat from Wehrkirch, during which all German wounded were evacuated.
