    Biography

    Konstantin Hierl received the Krieger-Ehrenzeichen in Eisen 1917 of the Grand Duchy of Hessen-Darmstadt and the Verwundetenabzeichen 1918 in Schwarz of the German Empire during the First World War. He became a member of the NSDAP in 1929. From 1933 he was the Secretary of State with the Ministry of Labour after he was a member of the Reichstag (German parliament) from 1930 until 1933. From 1934 he was appointed Kommissar für den (freiwilligen) Arbeitsdienst and in 1935 he became Reichsarbeitsführer of the Reichs Arbeits Dienst. He had the rank of Oberst ausser Dienst (Oberst out of Service).
