Oltman Reinder Thomsen was born o February 5th, 1910 in Leeuwarden as son to Richard Peter Thomsen (1876 - November 11th, 1935) and Katarina Mettina Thomsen-de Wit (June 2nd, 1885 - ?). He was an Engineer and worked as Assistant-Supervisor with the Service Weg en Werken (Rail and Traffic) of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways). He lived with with Bep Tonia Lintvelt.

Early 1945 he hid himself for the Germans in Scheemda. He was a member of the Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten (Resitance-Dutch Internal Forces) and was killed in Heveskes, near Delfzijl, on April 28th, 1945.

Recommendation:
For having displayed courage, initiative, perseverance, readiness to make sacrifices and devotion to duty under trying circumstances against the oppressor of the Dutch independence and for the preservation of spiritual freedom, in recognition of one of the manifestions of the resistance that has, by its various activities inflicted increasing damage to the enemy in the period between May 15th , 1940 and May 5th, 1945 and for having contributed to the liberation of the fatherland in an unforgettable manner.
