For having displayed courage, initiative, perseverance, willingness to make sacrifices and devotion in combat against the suppressor of the Dutch independence and preservation of mental freedom, thereby honoring him as one of the exponents of the resistance that has damaged the enmy in increasing measure by its various activities between May 15th, 1940 and May 5th, 1945 and having contributed to the liberation of the Netherlands in an unforgettable manner.
