Sergeant Sidney Clark was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his part in the actions on September 28th 1944 in Arnhem. At that moment he was in command of a platoon that was ordered to clear some woods of enemy soldiers. During the fierce fighting, Sergeant Clark confronted the enemy himself, destroying a tank on the way.
