Staff Sgt. William F. Tumbrink was a Flight Engineer with the 20th Army Air Force aboard a B-29 stationed in Guam during WW2. His photo recon unit photographed Japan during day light hours without any fighter support so that the two A-bombs could be dropped. He and his crew were awarded the DFC.
