    Biography

    Cornelis Buma was the eldest son of Tjipke Buma. At the age of 18 he joined the Dutch army and was placed with the 2nd Company, 3rd Batallion, 1st Infantry Regiment, based in Amsterdam. He was promoted to Corporal in 1912 and was during the 1st World War stationed along the Belgian border. There he was promoted to Sergeant. In 1921 he married Gerritje van Kooten. Prior to WW2, he was promoted to Sergeant Major. After the 2nd World War he resumed his duty with the Dutch Forces, but went to the newly formed Royal Netherlands Air Force. His rank, was "Adjutant Onder officier".
    He retired from the army in 1955, and passed away in 1964.
