    Biography

    Shore was the commander of the Wellington Bomber R1335 that was shot down and crashed in Heusden on the river Meuse after a fight with a German Nightfighter on March 27th 1941. Al six crewmembers left the plane on time.
    Shore and his crew were taken POW; on October 19th 1941 he escaped Stalag Luft I after digging a tunnel under the fence of the camp. After walking for a week he succeeded in reaching Sweden with the ferry Sassnitz - Trelleborg. Shore was one of the few RAF- POW's that was able to make a "home run".
